Artist Statement

My work explores the metaphor of liminal space and the human changes to our environment. Through color and line work, I depict the idea of past, present, and future, and the attachment between the built geometric form and the organic form.

How do we react to and interpret the disruption to the land, such as homes, buildings, sidewalks, or stairs, and passageways? What happens when these architectural structures are abandoned or consumed again by the landscape, and what new forms emerge from nature’s reclaiming”? I am interested in the tenuous connection to the future and how these may also hold an important place in our memory.

Through the abstraction of landscape and elements of drawing, I invite the viewer to contemplate the magnetic and energetic atmosphere of “place”, while acknowledging the visible impact of human intrusion.

Bio

b. 1968 Denison, Texas

Tiffany Tuley is an abstract artist based in Texas and is currently earning her M.F.A. in Studio Arts, with a specialization in painting, from the University of Texas at Tyler. She earned an MA in Art History from the University of North Texas and an MHP in Historic Preservation from the University of Georgia. Historic architecture and urban plans influence her paintings. Tuley has an active exhibition record that includes recent shows in Texas and Kansas such as The University of Texas at Tyler’s Annual Juried Student Exhibition (Tyler, Texas), The University of Texas at Tyler’s 41st Annual International JuriedExhibition (Tyler, Texas), The Annual Collin College Faculty Exhibition (Plano, Texas) and the On My Own Time Exhibition and The Fall All Members Show (Cider Gallery in Lawrence, Kansas). Tuley was recently awarded the prestigious Christopher Lyon Memorial Scholarship for the 2026/2027 academic year. Tulley’s paintings can be found in private collections in the nation and in the Dallas College permanent collection.
